The Same-Sex Marriage Supreme Court Ruling

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Obergefell v. Hodges, one of four cases they agreed to hear on the civil rights issue of same-sex marriage. In their split 5-4 decision, the court announced that our Constitution guarantees the right of marriage to all Americans, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage across the entire country. The ruling was cause for celebration in the LGBT community and was hailed by President Obama as a "victory for America."

With the joys of marriage also come unforeseen complications and challenges. At Torres Law, P.C., I have dedicated my firm to providing reliable and informed legal counsel to individuals, couples, and families facing a divorce or family law issue.
